Serenity House offers a life changing structured programme of intensive training of the 12 Steps to offer individuals the ability to maintain daily life free from their problematic past. A programme that combines a unique 12 Step lecture system with an activities based and holistic approach to life. Our staff are in recovery from these problems and professionally help individuals by sharing their first hand knowledge and experience of how they stay in sobriety, free from the effects of addiction and stress.
Offering a unique whole-person holistic approach as part of a small group, the environment at Serenity House is unique and unlike anything you will find in the UK, Spain or rest of Europe. By treating all our clients as individuals, we significantly enhance our extremely high success rate.
Serenity House is situated in a very private, tranquil and picturesque border area of Southern Spain surrounded by orange, lemon and olive groves. It was chosen specifically to be away from population centres and the distractions and strains of everyday life.
Our residents work their “programme” starting from the beginning, learning about their individuality and developing the ability to continue their lives in sobriety and free from the effects of addiction and stress.
Many people travel from the UK, Europe, the Middle and Far East to Serenity House, as it removes them from the environment where their problems have existed. This is the beginning of a process of change, retraining and coaching the character to lead a fulfilling and positive life in the future.

I kept thinking that I should be able to deal with my issues alone. I found excuses in time, cost, career, that it was self indulgent and that I should be stronger. I had no idea what to expect, the reality was friendly people, a beautiful setting and decor that's tasteful and relaxing. In fact combined with a roaring fire and comfy sofas I seemed to get rather too relaxed sometimes! (I don't think I snored) I can't say that there is an easy answer to why one arrives at the point they do in their lives, but what I gained, combined with an education into the physical and emotional reasons, with the Steps showing you how to deal with life free from stress and addiction in the outside world. A daily programme to support you. It's incredible how much we all think about the external, be that physical, material, financial etc and yet neglect the important, ourselves.
On another note, as stated on the website, "don't come here if you are on a diet". The food is excellent, Personally my favourite was the curry but the steak pie was a pretty close second! Also if you like horses, there is an excellent riding facility across the valley, which in these surroundings is fabulous. As I head back into the real world with a clearer head, more knowledge and support, I hope that I can put it into practice - one day at a time eh!
